What is Visible?

Visible is a Verizon subsidiary launched in 2018. It uses Verizon's full 5G and 4G LTE network — the same towers — but sells plans at prepaid-style prices with no contracts and no separate taxes or fees on your bill. There are no physical stores. Account management, activation, and porting all happen through the Visible app or website.

Because Visible shares infrastructure with Verizon, coverage is identical. The difference is that Verizon's own postpaid customers are prioritized over Visible subscribers during congestion. Upgrading to Visible+ or Visible+ Pro removes that deprioritization on Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband areas.

Which iPhones are compatible with Visible?

Every iPhone from the iPhone 6 onward is compatible, as long as it is unlocked. iPhones locked to AT&T, T-Mobile, or another carrier need to be unlocked first — most carriers unlock a device after it is paid off, or on request. A locked Verizon iPhone will work on Visible because it is already on Verizon's network.

eSIM support matters for newer models. iPhone XS and XR (2018) were the first to support eSIM alongside a physical nano-SIM. iPhone 14 and later US models dropped the physical SIM tray entirely and use eSIM only. Visible supports eSIM and its activation flow is fully online, so eSIM-only models activate without any plastic card.

If you are unsure whether your iPhone is unlocked, go to Settings › General › About. If "SIM Lock" or "No SIM restrictions" appears, the phone is unlocked.

Pairing a refurbished iPhone with Visible

Buying an unlocked refurbished iPhone separates the device decision from the service decision. Compare the phone's grade, battery policy, warranty, return terms, storage, and lock status alongside Visible's plan data, hotspot, taxes, and renewal terms.

If your current carrier offers a locked iPhone, request an unlock before porting to Visible. Carriers are generally required to unlock paid-off devices on request.

How to switch your iPhone to Visible

1. 1.Check compatibility and unlock status. Confirm your iPhone model is compatible (iPhone 6 or later). Go to Settings › General › About and verify there are no SIM restrictions. If locked, contact your carrier to unlock.
2. 2.Sign up online. Create a Visible account at visible.com. Choose your plan. For iPhone 14 and later, you can activate immediately via eSIM. For older models, Visible will mail a SIM card.
3. 3.Activate your eSIM or insert the SIM. For eSIM activation, follow the prompts in the Visible app — it takes about 10 minutes. For physical SIM, insert the card and follow the in-app steps.
4. 4.Port your number. During sign-up or after activation, enter your current account number and PIN from your existing carrier. Number porting typically completes within a few hours. Keep your old SIM active until the port confirms.
